Berlin Program // Project reportParticipation. Urbanism. Interaction.
In summer 2018, Multiplicities supported the German-Ukrainian youth exchange programme “Participation. Urbanism. Interaction”. It brings together 20 young participants from Berlin and Chernihiv and promotes discussion about active participation in and transformation of public space. As a project of the Meet Up! programme, supported by the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (EVZ), the exchange is aimed at finding joint solutions to questions of use and responsibility for public urban spaces. Workshops on participation and creative civic involvement as well as getting to know inspiring Berlin civic initiatives are at the centre of the Berlin part of the project.
Through the international exchange of experiences and on the basis of creative examples of engagement in Berlin, participants learn to analyse case studies, define target groups for extended cooperation and recognise both the potential and challenges of participatory processes in good time. Together with the neighbourhood, the future of the Birch Grove park will be decided, participation will be strengthened and a plan for the revitalisation of the park will be developed.
