Multiplicities and Inpolis Urbanism GmbH formulate the strategy for the master plan ICT, media and creative industries for the Berlin/Brandenburg metropolitan region.
In Berlin/Brandenburg, information and communication technologies are regarded as highly dynamic industries. It is therefore often difficult for planning authorities to develop a long-term strategy paper that will remain relevant into the coming decades.
Through extensive empirical work, which includes online dialogues, stakeholder interviews, focus group discussions and steering meetings, the master plan for the cluster Information & Communication Technology, Media and Creative Industries (IMK) of the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg was set up. The strategy paper, which sees itself as a dynamic working paper, is at first valid until 2020 and contains analyses, descriptions and visions of the future of this industry, which is the core growth factor of the region. In addition, strategy proposals are formulated in terms of defining potentials, how visions can be realised.
Special emphasis is placed on the specific role of the sector, which can be regarded as a 'creative and digital operating system' for all economic and social sectors: Both digitisation and cross-innovation effects influence almost all other sectors of the economy and society and must therefore be supported with separate strategies.
The master plan as a whole provides a scientifically sound description of the current situation and objectives as well as providing a foundation for regional thematic focussing in the sense of 'intelligent specialisation', and thus informs further action and implementation plans.
